“FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has opened proceedings against the Argentine Football Association for potential violations of Articles 11 (Offensive Conduct and Violations of the Principles of Fair Play) and 12 (Disrespectful Conduct of Players and Officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, as well as Article 44 of the FIFA World The Cup Qatar 2022™ Regulations together with the Media and Marketing Regulations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, during the Argentina v France FIFA World Cup™ Final,” read a statement from FIFA.
Argentina is not the only national FA in trouble, according to the latest disciplinary update from the governing body. Proceedings have also been opened against the Croatian FA for what FIFA describes as: “potential violations of Articles 13 (Discrimination) and 16 (Match Order and Safety) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during the match between Croatia and Morocco at the FIFA World Cup™”. FIFA has also announced fines for three FAs for actions in the group stage. Ecuador, Mexico and Serbia have been fined varying amounts from CHF 20,000 (£17,000) to CHF 100,000, with all three confederations also handed partial or full stadium bans.
