FIFA has written to all 32 teams competing at the World Cup telling them to “now focus on football” after a controversial match.
Host Qatar has been criticized for its stance on same-sex relationships, its human rights record and its treatment of migrant workers.
The tournament starts on November 20.
The letter urges that football should not be “dragged” into ideological or political “battles” and should not be “distributing moral lessons”.
Peaceful protests were planned by some players.
England’s Harry Kane and nine other European team captains wear ‘One Love’ bracelets.
Denmark will wear ‘toned’ shirts in protest against Qatar, with kit supplier Hummel saying it ‘doesn’t want to be visible’ at a tournament it says has ‘cost thousands of lives’.
Australia’s team released a video urging Qatar to abolish its laws on same-sex relationships.
Paris, and other French cities, refuse to screen matches in public spaces, despite the fact that France is the defending champion.
The letter, signed by Fifa president Gianni Infantino and general secretary Fatma Samoura and seen by the BBC, says: “We know that football does not live in a vacuum and we are equally aware that there are many challenges and difficulties of nature politics all around the world.
“But please don’t allow football to be dragged into any ideological or political battle that exists.
He adds: “At Fifa, we try to respect all opinions and beliefs, without transmitting moral lessons to the rest of the world. No people or culture or nation is “better” than any other. This principle is the first stone. of mutual respect and non-discrimination.
“And this is also one of the core values of football. So please, let’s all remember this and let football take center stage.
“We have the unique opportunity and opportunity to welcome and embrace everyone, regardless of origin, origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or nationality.”

MPs call on Southgate and Kane to act over Iran

The England team has been asked to consider making a “display or gesture of solidarity with Iranian women who are fighting for their civil liberties” when the two countries meet in their opening match at the World Cup on 21 of November
Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokeswoman Layla Moran wrote to coach Gareth Southgate and captain Harry Kane saying such a move would be “hugely significant in raising awareness of the reprehensible actions of the Iranian government”.
In a letter also signed by the Lib Dems’ sports spokesman, Jamie Stone, and seen by the BBC, he says such action would also be “likely to be seen by those who put their lives on the line in protest, which could be invaluable “.
Protests and unrest in Iran have been sparked by the death on September 16 of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who fell into a coma after being arrested by moral police in Tehran for allegedly violating Iran’s strict rules which require women to cover their hair. with a hijab, or scarf.
There were reports of officers hitting him on the head with a baton. Police said she suffered a heart attack.
Iranian football and sports figures and the human rights group Open Stadiums have previously called for Fifa to ban the Iranian national team.
The BBC has contacted the Football Association for comment.
We try to help as much as we can – Henderson

Speaking this week, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said it was “not fair” to expect players to make political statements or protests at the tournament.
England midfielder Jordan Henderson said on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: “Most players are put on ‘should the World Cup be played here?’ and everything that goes with it, but the players don’t decide where the World Cup is played.
“FIFA decides that and this is a question for them to answer. For us as players, we just play football and try to have a voice in some ways to help as much as we can.”
He added: “We do little things like that to try to show people that we’re all one, we’re all included and that’s why that campaign [Kane’s bracelet] was brought to light.
“If you do the right things, that’s the most important thing. Unless everyone is right, no matter what people say it will never be enough.”
England’s Beth Mead said on Thursday that it is “disappointing” that the tournament is being held in Qatar. Mead, who is openly gay, doesn’t think the Gulf state is the “right place” for the tournament to be staged.
A controversial build-up

Other off-field issues include Russia being banned by Fifa following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. In addition, the Ukrainian FA asked Iran to be banned from the World Cup for “systematic violations of human rights”. He believes that a resurgence of protests in the country “may violate the principles and norms” of Fifa.
The World Cup has been moved to the northern hemisphere winter for the first time in its 92-year history. Qatar initially proposed hosting the finals during the summer in indoor air-conditioned stadiums, but the plan was rejected.
Qatar World Cup organizers say “everyone is welcome” to visit the country to watch football, and that no one will be discriminated against.

Seven new stadiums were built for the event, as well as an airport, roads and about 100 hotels. Qatar’s government says 30,000 foreign workers were hired just to build the stadiums, most of them coming from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and the Philippines.
Human rights groups have complained about the treatment of foreign workers in Qatar, and the number who have died there.
In February 2021, the Guardian reported that 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had died in Qatar since it won its bid for the World Cup in 2010
The number is based on figures provided by the countries’ embassies in Qatar.
However, the Qatari government said the total was misleading, as not all recorded deaths were of people working on World Cup projects.
The government said its accident records showed that between 2014 and 2020, there were 37 deaths among workers at World Cup stadium construction sites, only three of which were “related at work”.
BBC Arab has gathered evidence that suggests the Qatari government has underreported the deaths among foreign workers.
England’s Football Association has backed claims for compensation for “any injury or death related to any construction project” for the World Cup.
Yasmine Ahmed, UK director of Human Rights Watch, called the Fifa letter “nothing short of appalling”, while Amnesty International’s Felix Jakens told BBC Radio 5 Live: “There has never been a right time to speak up of human rights issues in Qatar as they [Fifa] are concerned.
“Now is the time to apply pressure on these issues. Once the World Cup is out of town, will we still have conversations about Qatar? I don’t think we are.”
