Can the Lionesses surpass their incredible achievements in 2022?
Can Lionesses top incredible 2022 acheivements?
This was an unforgettable year for the Lionesses.
Become the European champion on home soil, qualify for the 2023 World Cup with a 100% performance, beat the world number one at Wembley and remain unbeaten for the whole year.
“You can’t beat that, you can only equalize that,” England manager Sarina Wiegman said as she reflected on the memorable spell.
England’s success has coincided with Wiegman’s arrival and they are unbeaten in 26 games under the Dutchman since her appointment in September 2021.
They have already broken records, made history and perhaps changed the women’s game forever.
So what next as they prepare for the 2023 World Cup?

Sam: Position wise I feel Emery will look to strengthen, I think he will continue to push with Pau Torres and a couple of red (perhaps unrealistic and risky) shouts to strengthen could be Ounahi and Kolo-Muani. Both of them have performed on the big stage and in my opinion would strengthen our options.
Marc: We need a top striker. I liked the look of Mohammed Kudus in the Ghana team. Who wouldn’t want him on their team?
Archie: If Emi is sold, I’d like to see Bonou. Boufal played well for Morocco, I think he would be a top signing. France’s Thuram looked killer when he came on, Inaki Williams would be good with pace up front.

Mike: Brentford won’t sign players based on a good performance at the World Cup – our scouting takes a lot more into account than that and I’m sure we already have targets in mind. Having said that… Leo Messi looked good.
Ian: The player I thought did well in the World Cup was the Moroccan number four, Amrabat. Fighting midfielder, currently playing for Fiorentina. As an old Brentford supporter, I remember the combative Terry Hurlock of the 1980s. Arambat is the same type of player. Brentford previously bought Christian Norgaard from Fiorentina so the contacts are there!
Alan: Ounahi. A brilliant for Morocco would be a very good and inexpensive addition.

Jordan: I’d love to see Takefus Kubo come to Palace and play him on the left.
Carl: Morocco’s Amrabat would be a really welcome addition to the Palace midfield, his energy combined with his devastating play and creative ability would make Palace a top six contender.
Pete: We need a right back, and Josip Juranović is exactly the man we need.

It’s already been a big season for City youngster Ric Lewis.
Last month, Lewis eclipsed Karim Benzema by becoming the youngest player to score on his Champions League debut.
And Lewis, who turned 18 on November 21, will play against Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Thursday.
But those first-team experiences didn’t stop him lining up to captain City in their FA Youth Cup win against Blackburn last week.
“I asked to play,” he said. “I told them (the coaches) to make sure they ask because I want to play. I just want to play as many games as possible to get as sharp as possible.
“I’ve been on the bench a lot and I haven’t been able to play as many games as I’d like, so I’d like to play as many games as I can.”

Many of you said Jude Bellingham for Liverpool.
Peppa: I would like to see Argentinian goalkeeper Emi Martinez with Liverpool. What a character. It reminded me of Bruce Grobbelaar.
Aaron: Sofyan Amrabat and Enzo Fernandez. Both look amazingly good, I’d love Liverpool to get them both!
Drew: Every time Alphonso Davies took the ball he looked like he was going to do something special. Sign him, Liverpool.
Lee: Alexis Mac Allister was a key player for Argentina. He won’t be at Brighton in January and he was the man pulling the strings for Argentina. I would love to see him in a Liverpool shirt in January.

Oliver: Mohammed Kudus for Ghana really impressed me. Great with both feet, composed, strong and with an eye for goal. He reminds me a bit of Essien. Chelsea really need a little something in midfield right now.
Sanjo: Enzo Fernandez. He is a big step in the right direction to solve our midfield problems.
John: I thought the Moroccan central midfielders Amrabat and Ounahi were amazing and would be great replacements for Kante. I think Kolo Muani or Thuram, under the right guidance, could become big power forwards. They reminded me of Drogba. Guardiol would be a great replacement for Thiago Silva when he leaves.
Andy: Although he wasn’t a starter for France, Kolo Muani would be a great addition for Chelsea – just what we need to add some impetus and energy to our side.

Joe: I feel we could get Dominik Livaković or maybe Harry Souttar because they were very good in the World Cup and are in our price range.
Dale: I really liked Enzo Fernandez for Argentina, Randal Kolo Muani, the players from Japan and Mohammed Kudus from Ghana.
Richard: Obviously a striker is needed to cover Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Maybe try Kylian Mbappe?
Dave: Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Alastair: Josko Guardiol plays alongside William Saliba in Arsenal’s defence. It could be a perfect partnership for the future.
Caleb: I believe Arsenal should go for Mohammed Kudus, the Ghanaian striker who plays for Ajax. It is strong and direct.
